Driving instructions from San Isidro
Finding the road to Dominical
From the Interamerican Highway
The Interamerican Highway is a divided highway as it passes through San Isidro de el General.
a.) If you are coming from the north, watch for a major signpost. One of the signs indicates "Dominical 35 km" and indicates a right (west) turn at an intersection where the McDonalds Restaurant is on the south west corner. Make this turn. You will be on Calle 0. Follow Calle 0 into
the center of San Isidro.
b.) If you are coming from the south, watch for a major signpost. One of the signs indicates "Dominical 35
km" and indicates a left (west) turn at an intersection where the Bar la Gallera is on the southwest corner. Make this turn. You will pass along the east side of the cathedral and a taxi stand. At the next intersection (at the head of the taxi stand), turn left onto Calle 0.
You will see the Plaza and Cathedral on your left. This is km 0. Continue on this street which becomes the road to Dominical.
If you're already in San Isidro
At the centre of San Isidro is the Cathedral and the Plaza. The road to Dominical (Calle 0) leaves the northwest corner of the Plaza on a one-way street going west. This is km 0.
Once you're on the road to Dominical
Calle 0 crosses Avenida 4 (Banco de Costa Rica on northeast corner), Avenida 8 (Pali grocery store on southwest corner) and Avenida 12 (Sports ground on southwest corner).
At km 1.6 as you leave San Isidro, you will pass the sewage lagoons on your left. You will go through the villages of La Palma (km 4.6), Tinamastes (km 15.2) and Platanillo (km 19.2). At km 28.3, you will come to an iron bridge over the Rio Guabo. Immediately after the bridge, there are a number of heavy equipment businesses.
Across the road from these heavy equipment businesses, turn right (north) up the hill on a gravel road. If you've got 4-wheel drive, please use it.
Proceed 2.5 km to a junction with a road on the left. There is a noticeboard here. Take the road on the left.
Proceed 1 km to a fork in the road (past where Avenida Miramar joins on the right). The right-hand branch is posted "Seabreeze Casas" and there's a small sign "Estancia" pointing down the left branch. Take the left branch.
Proceed down the hill. Count the driveways on the right hand side. We are the fourth driveway on the right (about 600 m down).
